Meta aramid staple fiber
Meta aramid is aromatic polyamide. The “Meta” linkage position of the aromatic groups differs from that of Para-Aramids. The chemical bonds are zig-zag in configuration, resulting in a lower tensile and modulus fiber compared to para aramid.
Meta aramid fibers(like Nomex) are best known for their combination of heat resistance and strength. In addition, meta aramid fiber do not ignite, melt or drip, that is a major reason which succeed in the fireproof apparels. In comparison to commodity fibers, meta aramid fiber offer better long term retentin of mechanical of properties at elevated tempratures. Meta aramids have a relatively soft hand and tend to process very similarly to commodity fibers with easy dyability, giveing them a wide range of converted products in heat resistant industry.
Specifications
1.5D,2D,3D-15D/32MM,38MM,51MM,76MM-100MM
Features & Benefits
- outstanding heat resistance. Resistant to melting even after many hours of exposure to heat. 75% of original strength is retained after exposure to dry-heat of 200°C for 1000 hours. 60% of original strength is retained after exposure to wet-heat at 120°C for 1000 hours.
- Flame resistance The Limiting Oxygen Index (LOI) of Meta-aramid fibre is over 28%. It is a flame retardant fibre that will not burn, melt or drip. Above 370°C our meta-aramid fibre will start to carbonise and decompose.
- Heat insulating properties Meta-aramid fiber has excellent heat insulating properties. These and its high dielectric strength enable Class-H (up to 180°C) insulating paper to be manufactured from it, giving wide application in the production of transformers, dynamos, motors and other forms of high temperature and high voltage electric equipment.
- Chemical Resistance, resistant to most inorganic acid and alkalis.
- Good textile properties . Meta-aramid fibre’s low stiffness and high elongation give excellent textile-like properties and characteristics, allowing processing on all types of conventional textile equipment. The staple version can be processed into yarns – or blended with other fibres – for the manufacture of knitted and woven fabrics as well as non-woven fabrics. Filament yarn can be converted into knitted and woven fabrics.
- Radiation resistance Meta-aramid fibre shows good resistance to α,β and ultraviolet radiation. For example, when the fibre is exposed at 1000Mrad of β radiation accumulation, it shows no loss of strength.
- Meta aramid staple fiber will absorb atmospheric moisture up to 5-7% in weight. This fiber should be stored in a cool, dry room with low humidity. A desiccant bag was included with this fiber to prevent regain during transit and short-term storage at your facility.
- Acid:Prolonged exposure to concentrated strong acids will cause degradation
Alkali: Degrades with prolonged exposure to Sodium Hypochlorite
Organic Solvent: Moderate degradation in Carbon Tetrachloride and Ethylene Glycol - Continuous Operating Temperature Range (°C):-196 to 204
Short Term Exposure (°C): 350
Degradation Temperature (°C): 300
