PBO Fibers

Polybenzoxazole (PBO), also known as Poly-p-phenylene benzobisthiazole, is a high-performance, heat-resistant fiber featuring a benzene-fused oxazole ring structure. PBO fibers are nearly twice as strong as aramid fibers like Kevlar and Nomex, and approximately 10 times stronger than steel, making them the strongest man-made organic fibers. Additionally, PBO has a decomposition temperature that is 100°C higher than that of aramid fibers and exhibits minimal creep under stress, making it ideal for applications involving high continuous loads.
